Please note that patterns and woodgrain colour swatches contained within this website have been reduced and are not to scale. When finalising colour selections, please use actual Formica sample chips rather than printed examples. These are far more accurate and are also useful when making decisions on surface finishes and wall colours. Dark colours or gloss finishes for high-wear applications, like busy kitchen benchtops (&/or Formica Melamine horizontal shelves), are not recommended as they require more care and maintenance than light-coloured or lower-gloss surfaces. Formica melamine, laminate, vinyl and premium product materials are no different than any other material in that darker colours will always show scratches and superficial wear and tear more readily than lighter colours. While Formica laminates exceed the requirements for fade resistance under the relevant Australian Standard, they, along with Melamine and Vinyl products should still be protected from strong, direct sunlight. This is particularly important where kitchens face north or west. Continuous exposure to strong, direct sunlight may cause discolouration or fading of the surface over time.
